The meet-me room (MMR) is a data center’s neutral patching room, where the links of all occupants converge: telecom carriers, cloud providers, colocation customers. It is where cross-connects terminate.
Why it matters: the number of carriers present in the MMR determines your freedom of choice and your transit prices — a carrier-rich site puts providers in competition a few meters from your rack. Large sites operate several (MMR1, MMR2) for redundancy.
