A cross-connect is a dedicated physical link — optical fiber (the standard, single-mode OS2) or copper — installed by the data center operator between your rack and another occupant of the building: a carrier, a cloud provider or another customer. It runs through the meet-me room (MMR), the site’s neutral patching room.

It is the basic building block of interconnection: no intrinsic bandwidth limit (capacity depends on the equipment at each end), negligible latency, and better reliability than any external link. The price is set by each data center: 90–170 €/month observed across our catalog, plus one-time setup fees (150–350 €).

Not to be confused with a campus cross-connect (between buildings of the same campus, billed higher) or a metro circuit between two separate data centers.
