A private cloud is a cloud infrastructure (virtualization, self-service, elasticity) dedicated to a single organization, hosted in a data center — on-premises, at a partner, or in colocation. Unlike public cloud, resources aren't shared with other customers.
It's chosen for sovereignty, compliance (sensitive data), predictable performance or control. It's often built on colocated hardware with a hypervisor (VMware, Proxmox) and controlled connectivity.
