An IXP (Internet eXchange Point) is a shared fabric where many networks connect to exchange traffic with each other (peering), instead of using paid transit. In France the main one is France-IX; in Europe, DE-CIX or AMS-IX.
Being in a data center connected to an IXP lets you peer with hundreds of networks (ISPs, cloud, CDN) at low cost and low latency. IXP presence is a strong data-center selection criterion.
